Howard Lowell

Howard Lowell, manager of contemporary jazz artists such as Boney James and Brian Culbertson, died Tuesday at St. Joseph's Hospital in Burbank from leukemia complications. He was 48.

In the mid-1970s, Lowell began his career working as the chart manager at Cashbox Magazine.

After a stint at Image Marketing, he entered the artist management field. Among his list of clients were jazz artists Braxton Brox, Richard Elliot, and the Perri Sisters.

Lowell is survived by his father and brother.

Services will be held Monday at noon at Mt. Sinai Mortuary, 5950 Forest Lawn Drive, Los Angeles.

In lieu of flowers, family requests donations be made to any of the following charities: Leukemia Society of America, 600 Third Avenue, New York, NY 10016; Chabad of Burbank, 2219 West Olive Ave., #100, Burbank, CA 91506; or Charleen Sweeney Animal Rescue League, 10637 Whipple St., North Hollywood, CA 91605.
