Police chief co-hosts magazine's Oscar bash

Such was the case Tuesday when L.A. Confidential mag celebrated its Oscar issue at the Mondrian with an event co-hosted by Dennis Hopper, Adrien Brody and -- most improbably -- LAPD Chief Bill Bratton. (He knows publisher Jason Binn from New York.)
As for the Oscars, Bratton said he "had no role" in the decision to cancel the red carpet arrivals, but security "would be more than last year, certainly, because of events of the war."
Among those on hand were Tom Arnold, Ron Silver, Nicky and Paris Hilton, Daisy Fuentes, Brett Ratner and Shakira Caine.
