Blighty pubcaster channel BBC1 unveiled its £270 million ($421 million) spring/summer schedule Tuesday, emphasizing its commitment to public-service broadcasting.
It includes the yearlong "Innovation Nation," challenging would-be inventors to submit ideas. A shortlist of entries will be made into prototypes and the public will vote on the winner, which will be marketed and put on sale.
Other highlights include "Imagine," a new arts strand looking at people and topics; conspiracy thriller "State of Play" from writer Paul Abbott; and "The Murder Game," likened to Fox's "Murder in Small Town X."
