Trailers hitch onto kudos

'Schmidt' retired the most awards with 4

Director Brett Ratner basks in the light of the Orpheum Theater at the Golden Trailer awards in Los Angeles.

It was all trailers and no movie for the aud at the Golden Trailer Awards Thursday night at the Orpheum Theater. Cheeky HBO talkshow front man Dennis Miller hosted the energetic and playful kudofest, which featured its own real golden trailer outside the historic downtown L.A. theater.

"Has war broken out since we started the show?" the politically relentless Miller opened, later quipping, "War has started and is over since the last award."

"About Schmidt" proved most gilded of the evening with pic's trailer company, Mark Woollen & Associates, nabbing four awards for best comedy, best voiceover, best music and best of show.

Others creating the antics onstage were Aisha Taylor, Andy Dick and helmer Brett Ratner. Kudofest after-shindig took place at the Standard Hotel on Sunset.
