New Fox cabler taps Sternberg

Net has carriage deals with DirecTV, TW

The Fox Networks Group has named David Sternberg senior VP of emerging networks and general manager of an action-sports cable network Fox plans to launch this summer.

These new titles are just add-ons for Sternberg, who will continue to serve as general manager of two other cable networks: Fox Sports World and Fox Sports en Espanol.

Sternberg's immediate priority is to whip into programming shape the new network, still unnamed, which will feature shows on surfing, skateboarding, snowboarding, BMX and MotoCross. The network has initial carriage deals with DirecTV and Time Warner Cable.

As GM of Fox Sports World, Sternberg has helped to swell its subscriber base to 16.8 million homes.

Before joining Fox Sports Intl. as director of business development in 1998, Sternberg was a management consultant in the entertainment, media and communications strategy group of PricewaterhouseCoopers.
