It's probably coincidence that the departure of professional football from the Los Angeles area has coincided with the rise in live coverage of police chases by local news.

Irresistibly addicted by an almost guaranteed spike in ratings, seven Los Angeles broadcast news outlets now compete to broadcast live police pursuits. The Wall Street Journal wrote about the phenomenon (see related WEB link), and recently the police department has accused the media of being part of the problem. No outlets have committed to hold off broadcasting, however.

If you can't watch TV from Southern California, the national Incident Page Network, www.incidentpage.com, might give you the tips you're looking for.
