Indian Censors reject short

World Brief

Indian censors blocked the release of a controversial short about last year's sectarian violence in the state of Gujarat on Tuesday.

The Central Board of Film Certification turned down "Aakrosh" (Outburst), filmed during Hindu-Muslim clashes that killed 2,000 people, mostly Muslims, according to rights groups.

The violence erupted after a train carrying Hindu activists was torched, allegedly by a Muslim mob, leaving 58 dead.

The film features in-depth interviews with survivors of the riots and casts local politicians and the police in a bad light.
