Comedy honors to 'Greek' & 'Boy'

Winners selected by film directors, writers, producers, actors

Some of this year's Oscar nominees wound up winners at the Comedy Film Honors, the inaugural kudofest of HBO and the U.S. Comedy Arts Festival celebrating the best of the year in comedy film.

"My Big Fat Greek Wedding" grabbed two of the four awards, for independent comedy film and Entertainment Weekly's audience for comedy film of the year. "About a Boy" won for studio comedy feature, while helmer Burr Steers received first-time director honors for "Igby Goes Down."

"Boy" and "Wedding" are nominated for best-adapted screenplay and best original screenplay respectively.

With the exception of the audience award, which is chosen via fan balloting on Entertainment Weekly's Web site, winners are selected by a voting body of comedy film directors, writers, producers and actors. This group is led by an executive committee that includes Steve Martin, Billy Crystal, Peter and Bobby Farrelly, Barry Levinson and Jay Roach.

The Comedy Film Honors will be handed out on Saturday, March 1 as the finale of the ninth annual USCAF in Apsen, Colo. Eric Idle, David Alan Grier and "Sex and the City's" Kristen Davis are among those presenting.
