Later this month, Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.) will join up with one of her husband's archrivals, House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, to co-host a screening of "Antwone Fisher."
"It is one of Capitol Hill's more unusual odd couples. We are still trying to figure out who is Felix and who is Oscar," DeLay top aide Stuart Roy said.
The Feb. 25 screening in the private theater at the Motion Picture Assn. of America was the brainchild of the Casey Family Programs, which advocates on behalf of America's foster children. The real-life Antwone Fisher will attend the event.
While DeLay and Clinton aren't likely to agree on most topics, they meet up on the issue of foster care. DeLay has long been interested in the issue; he has four foster children living with him and his wife. Clinton, too, has long been an advocate.
"Our searing journey with Antwone reminds us that every American child suffering within the foster care system is a precious piece of our community and, for that reason, real reform begins with community involvement," Clinton and DeLay said in an open invitation sent to all Capitol Hill pols.
