Jane's again takes reins of Lollapalooza
Audioslave, Incubus, Jurassic 5 join tour
Band is led by Perry Farrell, who concocted the idea of a festival that would bring together disparate styles of music. Begun in 1991, Lollapalooza eventually was criticized for being too mainstream.
Joining Jane's Addiction will be Audioslave (which consists of Rage Against the Machine members and singer Chris Cornell), Incubus, Queens of the Stone Age and the alt-hip-hop act Jurassic 5.
Members of the bands gathered at a Hollywood record store to announce the details, and Jane's Addiction performed three songs.
Lollapalooza will visit 27 U.S. cities and Toronto during July and August. More bands are expected to be added to the bill.
In its seven years of operation, Lollapalooza grouped Pearl Jam and Ice Cube (1992), the Smashing Pumpkins and Nick Cave (1994) and Metallica and Devo (1996) on the same bill.
