Universal Music ups Henny to vice chair

Exec also to keep previous title, duties

Universal Music Group has upped financial guru Marinus N. Henny to vice chairman of the label giant. He will report directly to chairman-CEO Doug Morris.

Henny, who had been exec veepee-chief financial officer, will retain the latter title and responsibilities. Exec had been in his prior post for just under three years. He joins prexy and operating chief Zach Horowitz and U Music Intl. boss Jorgen Larsen in the chairman's office.

'Invaluable' assistance

"Nick has been instrumental in the global financial strategy and activities that have helped Universal emerge as the leading music company in the world," said Morris. "His insights, experience, knowledge and leadership have been invaluable."

Before signing on at Universal Music, Henny was exec VP and financial chief of Sony Corp. of America, the U.S. parent of Sony Music, Sony Pictures and Sony Electronics. at accounting firm PriceWaterhouseCoopers

He also served as a partner.
