Clear Channel cleared in suit

HBC remains largest Spanish-lingo b'caster in U.S.

MIAMI -- A U.S. district court judge has issued a final order dismissing an antitrust lawsuit against Clear Channel Communications and Hispanic Broadcasting Corp.

United States District Judge Patricia Seitz entered a final order on Jan. 31, ending the suit filed by Spanish Broadcasting System, HBC said.

Spanish Broadcasting filed its suit last year when HBC announced it was being acquired by Spanish-lingo media conglom Univision Communications in an all-stock transaction.

Should Spanish Broadcasting appeal, HBC said it would vigorously defend the court's decision.

HBC is the country's largest Spanish-lingo radio broadcaster, with 63 stations.

It will hold a shareholder meeting on Feb. 28 to vote on the pending deal with Univision.
