'Raven' ratings take wing for Disney net
Skein made stronger impressions on older demos
Original sitcom, starring moppet Raven-Symone, bowed Friday with four new episodes from 7-9 p.m.
In kids 2-11, 7 p.m. airing earned a 6.0 rating/21 share, with only slight declines as the evening continued. But because net's average viewing age is 12, Disney's "Raven" made stronger impressions on older demos.
Marathon took the top spot in kids 6-11, with more than 1.6 million viewers tuning in. Each seg built on its lead in, climbing from an initial 8.4 rating to end with a 9.5. Block was first in the time period against all other basic-cable competish among kids 6-11.
Net has always favored girls, which make up about 60% of its audience. Series did well among girls 6-11 and girls 9-14, pulling in 1.6 million and 1 million, respectively.
Boys also tuned in: The 7 p.m. show rated a 5.1 in boys 6-11, repping 493,000 viewers -- a record for the net. As with kids demo, each seg built on its lead-in, breaking net's record for boys with each subsequent half-hour. Marathon ended with 704,000 viewers in boys 6-11 and a 7.3 rating.
Delivery was up 48% from the same period last year, when net was available in fewer homes. Disney Channel now is carried in 80 million homes.
