U.K. TV distrib body gets new chief

Granada International's Jones takes reins at BTDA

LONDON -- Ian Jones, general manager at Granada International, has been voted chair of the British Television Distributions' Association for 2003.

Christina Willoughby, managing director of Chrysalis Distribution steps down from her 2002 role as co-chair, while Rupert Dilnott-Cooper, chief executive of Carlton International, will continue in his co-chair role for a further six months.

Speaking about the appointment, announced Wednesday, Jones said, "I am looking forward to driving our ongoing objectives of getting even closer to producers and the government, and to finding out what else the BTDA can do for its members in 2003. The distribution sector, like many, will have a tough year ahead."

In the final months of 2002, the BTDA welcomed five new members: Ragdoll, Optomen, Parthenon, Portman and Cineflix International. There are now over 30 members representing more than 90% of the total U.K. distribution business.
