LONDON -- Pathe Pictures has secured U.K. rights to Gregor Jordan's "Buffalo Soldiers," the last film remaining from now-defunct FilmFour's distribution slate.
Pathe already is handling 11 other FilmFour titles. One other, Conor McPherson's "The Actors," went to Momentum Pictures, which looked set to take "Buffalo Soldiers" as well, but was squeezed out in the negotiations.
"Buffalo Soldiers," which delves into the criminal subculture among U.S. troops stationed in Germany, has been released only in that country, where it was a box office disaster.
Miramax picked up North American rights after the pic premiered at the Toronto Film Festival in 2001. But it has been stuck in limbo since the 9/11 terrorist attacks, as Miramax feels its anti-military stance will not find favor with U.S. audiences.
