Lions Gate taps Klein series VP

Vet to head up current, development programming

HOLLYWOOD -- Lions Gate Entertainment has named Joanna Klein vice president of series TV.

Klein, a four-year vet at the company, heads up Lions Gate Television's current and development programming, which includes drama and reality skeins such as USA Network's "The Dead Zone."

She reports to Lions Gate TV production prexy Kevin Beggs.

"Joanna is a talented, focused, innovative executive who is the mainstay of our development and network series operations, and we're delighted that her role will continue to grow as a member of our core management team with a new long-term contract," Beggs said.

In the 'Zone'

Lions Gate has six scripts in development at a variety of cable and broadcast networks. "Dead Zone," which Klein helped spearhead, premiered its second season this week to boffo numbers on USA.

Klein also helped develop Pax's "Mysterious Ways" and the reality skein "No Boundaries," which briefly ran on the WB and continues to air internationally.

Prior to Lions Gate, Klein handled network TV strategy and business planning at Disney. Her resume also includes stints at BSB Prods. and Imagine Television. Klein began her career in 1993 at Goldman Sachs as an equities analyst.
