Trumer tops UIP France

Former BMG managing director replaces Rougier

PARIS -- UIP France has a new topper, Camille Trumer, who returns to the film industry after a stint as managing director of record company BMG.

Trumer replaces Jean-Paul Rougier who ankled at the end of 2002. Rougier, former Polygram Film Distribution chief, had been with UIP since taking over from Franck Chorot two years ago.

The new chief earned his cinema spurs with the French group UGC, which he joined in 1996. There, he occupied several key posts, including the managing directorships of UGC Belgium and UGC Spain.

UIP was France's eighth-rated distributor in 2002. Anthony Hopkins starrer "Red Dragon" was its biggest box office earner with takings of about $8 million.
