America's online visual chronology

Picture History's photos date back to Vietnam War

Looking for a clip or a shot of a historical event, preferably involving Abraham Lincoln? The best place on the Web to look is "Picture History." They describe themselves: " [We are ] an online archive of images and film footage illuminating more than 200 years of American history. Included in [our] holdings is the acclaimed Meserve-Kunhardt Collection of 19th century photography as well as thousands of images that have been researched and acquired by Kunhardt Productions for use in historical documentaries over the past fifteen years." The company has produced books and educational television shows, mostly about the White House and the time of the Civil War, but the photo collection includes many items all the way up to the Vietnam War. They also have created an online magazine with articles about historical figures and events. I ended up learning a lot more at this site than I started out to.
