Music service gets access to large Latin sub base

Mexico's largest digital cable operator, Cablevision, has inked a multiyear carriage agreement with Soundtrack Channel, the L.A.-based around-the-clock service that features musicvideos from movie and TV soundtracks.

Deal was unveiled last week by Denis Leverson, VP of business development and programming at the Soundtrack Channel.

"Cablevision has been aggressive in its rollout of digital services throughout Mexico, and we're very pleased to be included on its digital basic package of channels," Leverson said. "As the system expands, we will continue to have access to its growing base of subscribers in this important Latin market."

Soundtrack launched earlier this year in Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Indonesia, Taiwan, the Philippines and Brazil and will roll out in Europe and Korea early next year.

In addition, south-of-the-border satcaster DirecTV Latin America started carrying the Soundtrack Channel as a 24-hour net on Dec. 1.
