Olivares takes action as Fox Sports Net VP

Digital to develop a name, logo, branding

CJ Olivares has been tapped VP of programming and marketing for Fox's new action sports network.

The still-unnamed digital net, which will launch in summer, was unveiled last week by Fox Networks group prexy-CEO Tony Vinciquerra at the Broadband Plus Western Show.

Olivares' priorities are to develop a name, logo and branding as well as marketing and production details to distinguish the service. He also will create a programming slate.

'Powerful and compelling'

"Our audience constantly challenges the establishment, demanding exploration, innovation and irreverence," Olivares said. "The participants in action sports are drawn to them for the chance to tap into a powerful and compelling experience."

A Fox alum, Olivares most recently was an adviser to Quicksilver Entertainment & Extreme Group. Before that, he was CEO of production company Broadband Interactive Group, which produced Fox Sports franchise "Bluetorch." Olivares joined Fox Sports in 1997 as a director of development and acquisition, leaving in 1999 to join BIG.
