Timpone ankles U TV distrib

VP helped market 'Law & Order,' 'Mummy' 'Furious'

Karin Timpone is ankling as senior VP of marketing and communications at Universal TV Distribution to pursue career opportunities outside the company. A replacement is yet to be named.

Having served nearly a decade at the company, Timpone transitioned from Seagram to Universal in 1998 to lead TV group communications for Universal Television & Networks Group. She was promoted to her most recent position in 2000 and added oversight of its research area the following year.

During her tenure with the company, Timpone built global marketing teams, most recently to support U's licensing of series and movies to outlets abroad -- from the "Law & Order" franchise to movies like "The Mummy Returns" and "The Fast and the Furious."

In addition to the international arena, Timpone created cross-promotions with U.S. cable outlets in support of key licensing deals. Prior to her role in TV distribution, she helped launch international U-branded channels and created an emerging filmmakers program to bring global talent to Hollywood.

While at Seagram, Timpone led PR for Absolut vodka and campaigns for the first spirits advertisements on U.S. television.

"I realize how fortunate I am to have combined classic brand marketing and a global TV remit at a Hollywood studio. I've accomplished my goals here and I am excited for this development in my career," Timpone said.
