Canal Fox gets South American Copa

World Brief

Canal Fox in Brazil will broadcast South America's most important soccer tourney, the Copa Toyota Libertadores, next year, as part of a deal with Fox Sports Latin America, which does not have a presence in the market.

Canal Fox will air 30 exclusive matches live Feb-June. Thirty-two teams from 22 cities in 10 countries compete, and the winner goes on to play the European League champ in the Copa Toyota Intercontinental, in Japan in December 2003.

Fox Sports acquired exclusive rights to the Copa in February when parent Fox Sports Intl formed a sports programming holding venture with Hicks Muse Tate & Furst and Liberty Media.
