Balvin maintains post

Czech Television general director Jiri Balvin narrowly escaped a CTV Council vote Monday to oust him from the beleaguered pubcaster. The topper declared his position solid; however, another attempt to remove him is expected soon.

He faces charges of financial mismanagement and favoritism. In recent weeks, the station's first channel fell from second to third place in audience share. CTV's second channel trails in fourth.

Balvin is the latest in a series of toppers to come under criticism from CTV's Council and employees in the last four years.
