Col project a 'Monster'

'Bunny' creator Milano, Huffman pen strange pal pic

Laura Ziskin Prods. has set up "Me and My Monster" at Columbia Pictures.

In addition to Ziskin, Stan Winston is on board in a producing role in addition to acting as a creature creator.

Written by "Greg The Bunny" creator Dan Milano with Matthew Huffman, pic will tell the story of a young boy who has a friendship with an extraordinary creature that changes the course of his life as he becomes an adult.

"Me and My Monster," which is the project's working title, is envisioned as a pic that will play to kids and teens as well as adults.

Supervising the project are exec VP Matt Tolmach and VP Rachel O'Connor, reporting to production president Peter Schlessel.

Milano created "Greg The Bunny" on a 1997 public access program and eventually transferred the concept to the Independent Film Channel and later, Fox Television. Huffman previously directed "Playing Mona Lisa."

Oscar-winning effects artist Winston earned his first producing credit with the Summit Entertainment horror pic "Wrong Turn," which will be released next year through New Regency.
