No, Bernie

Letter to the Editor

Bernie Brillstein's company is one big reason why people can't afford to discover new talent. He, along with all of these other management conglomerates have driven star salaries throught the roof-and have left very little for the lesser known actor or up-and-comer. This has left small agencies out of business that used to discover talent, and same goes for management companies.

There was a day when a lesser-known actor could live very comfortable in Beverly Hills and send his kid to private school by doing a couple of jobs a year. That day is no more since the $20 million dollar actor gets it all and everybody else gets scale or schedule F. Because of these economics the discoveries that used to come from smaller companies no longer exist. You can blame Bernie, Ovitz, the studios, and everyone else who believes the buck is more important than the art!
