Considine looks for action
Skein to be first daily TV series covering action sports
FSN has commissioned Quiksilver Entertainment to produce the skein, which will be the first daily TV series covering action sports.
The half-hour series, which kicks off at 5 p.m. Jan. 27, will focus on skateboarding, surfing, snowboarding and the like.
Coverage of the sports will alternate with profiles of the athletes and lifestyle-trend reports.
While running "54321," Considine will continue to act as a consultant to "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno," where he most recently oversaw the creative and production elements of the show.
NBC declined comment on Considine's move.
Tracy Dolgin, president of Fox Sports Net, said participation in action sports is at an all-time high in the U.S. For example, more than 12 million Americans are regular skateboarders.
Quiksilver Entertainment's top execs, Danny Quock and Matt Jacobson, will supervise the production. Parent company Quiksilver is known mostly for its marketing of clothes to skateboarders, surfers and other action-sports aficionados.
Fox Sports Net reaches more than 80 million homes through the 21 regional sports networks it owns or has a stake in.
