Two more bolt Neuer Markt

Odeon, Senator join exodus

COLOGNE -- Odeon and Senator have become the latest media companies to leave the German stock exchange's Neuer Markt -- due to shut down next year -- for the less costly Regulated Market.

Both said the high costs and weak capital markets were behind the moves.

"The requirement of a great deal of publicity, two designated sponsors as well as the special needs of the Neuer Markt for information lead to considerably higher costs than the Regulated Market," said Odeon chief exec Hans Joachim Mendig.

Berlin-based producer-distrib Senator said it intends to push expansion of its core activities locally and abroad, regardless of the climate on the stock markets.

The Deutsche Boerse plans to replace the Neuer Markt with an internationally targeted listing sector dubbed the Prime Standard. It also will introduce the Domestic Standard in a far-reaching overhaul.
