Set up by fest director Dieter Kosslick in co-operation with subsidy org Filmboard Berlin-Brandenburg and the U.K. Film Council, the Berlinale Talent Campus will give up to 500 young scribes, producers, directors, cinematographers and actors the opportunity to learn and discuss business and career opportunities with professionals.
"The idea is that the people will leave in an electrified state and say, 'That helped me with my new project -- or my life,' " Kosslick said.
"You don't have to reduce everything to celluloid. It's much more important that you put yourself into a situation which enables you to have a new artistic idea, to make a new film."
Work ethics explored
Program will cover the spectrum of filmmaking, from the latest technology and style trends to work ethics, as well as lectures on pre-production, production, post-production and promotion of films.
Running from Feb. 10-14, the Talent Campus will be held at the House of World Cultures (Haus der Kulturen der Welt), located near the festival center.
Young international filmmakers can apply via the Internet at www.berlinale-talentcampus.de by Dec. 6. A share of travel and accommodation expenses will be reimbursed to all selected talent.
