Silverchair, who collected group and best rock album honors for "Diorama", performed at the ceremony -- the first outing since frontman Daniel Johns' crippling arthritis forced the band to cancel its world tour.
Balladeer Alex Lloyd was dubbed male artist.
Australia's latest international rock sensation, The Vines took new single. Group George took album honors. ARIA vet Paul Kelly collected top adult album and original soundtrack for "Lantana."
Song and dance sensation HI-5 claimed their third consecutive prize in the kiddie section. Best cast/show album went to Jacobsen Productions and David Atkins' arena spectacular "The Man From Snowy River."
