Woodard, Winger on 'Radio'
'Summer's' Tollin to helm pigskin pic
Cuba Gooding Jr. and Ed Harris topline the pic, pegged for a fall 2003 release. Col Pictures is distribbing. Mike Tollin ("Summer Catch") helms from a script by Mike Rich ("The Rookie," "Finding Forrester").
Film centers on the true story of a relationship between a high school football coach, portrayed by Harris, and a mentally challenged man nicknamed Radio, played by Gooding Jr., and how it unifies the residents of a divided South Carolina town.
Tollin and Brian Robbins, who is helming Par's "The Perfect Score," are producing the film for Revolution through their Tollin/Robbins Prods. shingle.
Woodard most recently starred with Kevin Spacey and Jeff Bridges in Universal's "K-PAX."
Role will be Winger's first appearance in a major studio production since 1995's "Forget Paris." She most recently appeared in the Rosanna Arquette-helmed docu "Searching for Debra Winger."
