Woodard, Winger on 'Radio'

'Summer's' Tollin to helm pigskin pic

Thesps Alfre Woodard and Debra Winger have joined the cast of Revolution Studios' football drama "Radio."

Cuba Gooding Jr. and Ed Harris topline the pic, pegged for a fall 2003 release. Col Pictures is distribbing. Mike Tollin ("Summer Catch") helms from a script by Mike Rich ("The Rookie," "Finding Forrester").

Film centers on the true story of a relationship between a high school football coach, portrayed by Harris, and a mentally challenged man nicknamed Radio, played by Gooding Jr., and how it unifies the residents of a divided South Carolina town.

Tollin and Brian Robbins, who is helming Par's "The Perfect Score," are producing the film for Revolution through their Tollin/Robbins Prods. shingle.

Woodard most recently starred with Kevin Spacey and Jeff Bridges in Universal's "K-PAX."

Role will be Winger's first appearance in a major studio production since 1995's "Forget Paris." She most recently appeared in the Rosanna Arquette-helmed docu "Searching for Debra Winger."
