Players pay to fight piracy in India
Association to collect industry funds; plan to hire cops
Industry figures met this week in Calcutta to launch Piracy Fund Deducted at Source, an association that will collect 1% of industryites' earnings to aid the fight against piracy.
Part of the plan involves hiring special high-profile cops.
"We will have to have our own force," Bollywood producer-director Yash Chopra told a press conference. "For this we have to raise funds."
Chopra went on to describe the piracy menace as the greatest threat to the existence of the film industry.
