Letters to the Editor

Bravo to Timothy M. Gray for his dangerous, iconoclastic and possibly suicidal "Reel Life" column. Chances are 50-50 Gray won't work again until the fad for blaming one's personality problems, second-rate artistry and lack of success on oppression is finally revealed as the fraudulent, self-pitying hooey it so obviously is. But for someone to say "The emperor has no clothes" right in the emperor's face is dangerous indeed. Which is what Gray has said. To actually suggest Barbra Streisand didn't get nominated for an Oscar because she's not a very good director and that Helen Kushnick got fired from "The Tonight Show" because of her abrasive personality and immoral policies about guests, that Sister Souljah is a blatant racist and to nail Spike Lee for simple demagoguery for his own selfish reasons is heresy in this town. Jonathan Reynolds lives in Santa Monica
