'Slap Her' still dealing with funding
Film's stars extend promotional tour in meantime
The reason for the most recent shift is the same as the last: Namely, Premiere still doesn't have all of its funds pulled together. "Slap Her" is now penciled for Nov. 8.
"When we originally selected the Sept. 20 date for 'Slap Her,' we anticipated that all of the requisite details for funding the company would have taken place with sufficient time to properly open the film," said Mitch Goldman, chairman, CEO of Premiere.
He added that the bank is scheduled to close the financing later this week. JP Morgan Chase is handling the transaction.
Prior to its most recent change, pic was skedded for a Sept. 20 bow. It was originally slated for release June 7, then Aug. 30. The film, which stars Piper Perabo, held its Hollywood premiere Aug. 28 at the Academy. The film's principals will extend their current promotional tour through the November opening.
Premiere guarantees producers a minimum of 2,000 screens and at least $16 million in pre-opening and first- week print and advertising costs for each film.
"Slap Her" will be the first release for Premiere, which launched in February 2001. The company's stated intention is to distribute six films in its first year of operation, and 12 to 14 films annually thereafter.
