Wood ankles Reuters for ITN

Vet news exec appointed chairman

LONDON -- Mark Wood is leaving news org Reuters to take up the new role of chairman of ITN, supplier of news to ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5.

Wood was with Reuters for 26 years, from 1989 to 2000 editor-in-chief and most recently in charge of investments and alliances. He previously was also ITN's non-exec chairman, a part-time job.

At ITN, he will work closely with ITN chief exec Stewart Purvis, in particular building the company's international doc and video business.

ITN is co-owned by ITV companies Carlton and Granada, Reuters, Daily Mail & General Trust, and United Business Media.
