Cablers make 9/11 plans
Docs, anthologies, silence skedded
In addition to producing 30-second PSAs for the National Cable Television Assn., Lifetime and its sister networks will recognize the anniversary by saluting female heroes of the tragedy.
Like other channels, Lifetime will observe a moment of silence at 8:46 a.m. Net also will air "Stories of Hope, Healing and Courage," a doc that looks at how five women were affected by the attacks. These profiles also will be included in the series of short vignettes the net will air through the day.
Net's Web site will feature Sept. 11 content, including a photo gallery and message boards where visitors can express themselves.
N.Y. centerpieces
Sundance Channel has skedded two anthologies to celebrate Gotham and address the horror of the day. "NY, NY," which airs Sept. 9, is a series of classic New York-centric pics by directors including doc filmmaker D.A. Pennebaker and photographer Helen Levitt. On Sept. 11, channel will air "9 Views: 9/11," in which filmmakers personally address the attacks. Topics range from re-establishing a home blocks from Ground Zero to a silent collage featuring photos of the missing.
MuchMusic will premiere the Blue Man Group's tribute video "Exhibit 13." Three-minute piece focuses on scraps of paper found in Brooklyn that blew over from Ground Zero.
Video will bow at 8:50 a.m. Sept. 11 and repeat once each hour. Net will be commercial-free the entire day.
