NBC taps Sony's Kiel

Exec to head corporate communications

NBC has tapped Patricia Kiel exec VP of corporate communications and media relations.

Kiel, who joins the Peacock from Sony Music Entertainment, will assume her gig in mid-September, reporting to Bob Wright, net's chair and CEO and vice chair of GE.

Kiel will oversee media relations for all divisions including news, entertainment, sports and Telemundo. In addition to heading up corporate communications strategy, she will also be responsible for the net's internal communications as well as philanthropic and public service initiatives.

"Patricia has a wealth of experience and an outstanding record of achievement as a communications strategist," said Wright. "She will play a valuable role at NBC as we continue to drive our growth as a leading global media company."

Joined Sony Music in 1995

At Sony Music Entertainment since 1995, Kiel was senior veep of communications. Besides overseeing media relations and communications, Kiel developed and maintained imaging campaigns for the org and its senior staff.

With Sony's government relations team and the RIAA, she worked on a variety of music industry topics, such as intellectual copyright legislation and digital distribution.

Before joining Sony, Kiel was senior director of communications for Polygram. Previously she held publicity positions at Rolling Stone magazine and PR firm Susan Blond.
