As part of the renewal, Tony Jonas Prods. will now work under Warner Bros. Television, which covers the company's overhead, and studio topper Peter Roth. Jonas previously operated as a pod separate from WBTV. Jonas spent four years as the studio prexy, from 1995 to 1999.
Jonas continues to serve as executive producer, along with Ron Cowen and Daniel Lipman, on the Showtime skein "Queer as Folk," which the cabler recently picked up for two more seasons. He'll also serve as an executive producer on the upcoming ABC midseason laffer "Lost at Home," from Michael Jacobs.
"It is an honor to remain in the family at WBTV, where relationships and support has been so special from all levels for so many years," Jonas said. "Peter Roth knows the game and how to produce quality programming, and I can't wait to support our new partnership in both network and cable."
Joined Lorimar
Jonas has spent 13 years at the studio, having joined predecessor Lorimar Television in 1989 as senior vice president of drama. He later served as executive vice president of creative affairs before moving into the presidency.
Jonas previous stints also have including being VP of development at Walt Disney Television, vice president of dramatic series and longform at MGM/UA, director of drama at Aaron Spelling Prods. and senior exec in charge of development at Winkler/Rich Prods.
"Tony is a talented, extremely well-liked and respected executive," Roth said. "We look forward to collaborating with him and his team."
