Canadian fund gets topper

World Brief

The Canadian Television Fund has named industry vet Sandra Macdonald as prexy and CEO.

Former chairwoman of the National Film Board and former prexy of the Canadian Film and Television Production Assn., Macdonald also has worked for the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission and is also a founding board member of the CTF.

She replaces Gary Toth, who stepped aside in June due to ill health. She takes the helm on Sept. 4.

The CTF is a public-private partnership created by the Canadian government and the cable industry with a budget of $250 million ($160 million) and a mandate to enhance the creation and broadcast of high-quality and culturally significant Canuck television.
