The festival will open with Adrian Caetano's "Un oso rojo" (A Red Bear), a life-after-prison drama, and close with Jorge Coscia's "Luca vive" (Luca Lives), based on the life of the late Luca Prodan, lead singer of rock band Sumo.
The documentary section will spotlight eight titles, including Mariano Llinas' "Balnearios" (Beach Resorts), about tourists on Argentina's beaches, and Enrique Bellande's "Ciudad de Maria," which tells the story of a city whose major income is from religious tourism.
There also will be a retrospective of Jose Martinez Suarez's films, including the 1960 "El Crack," about the rise of a young soccer player.
Sponsors for the eight-day fest include Universidad Nacional del Centro; cinema complex operator Cinemacenter; and the Instituto Nacional de Cine y Artes Audiovisuales (Incaa), the government department that promotes and funds the film industry.
