'Caroline' stocks up on staff

Toplyn, Blackman, Ackerman join yakker crew

"The Caroline Rhea Show" has staffed up for its premiere season, culling vets from across the industry.

Yakker's key hires include Joe Toplyn as head writer and producer, Lori Blackman as head of talent, and Jim Ackerman as supervising producer.

"We have assembled an extremely talented staff comprised of veterans from some of the talk/variety genre's biggest names -- 'Letterman,' 'Rosie,' 'Regis' and 'Leno,' " said Bridget Potter, show's exec producer. "We'll rely on their experience and expertise to help make 'Caroline' a hit."

Toplyn, who will oversee the writing team, is an Emmy-winning scribe for "Late Show With David Letterman." He also has written for the "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno" and "In Living Color."

Blackman joins strip from "Showbiz Today," where she helped book talent for the series. At "Caroline," she'll oversee the guest bookings and talent relations.

Ackerman, who comes aboard as supervising producer, was most recently with Telepictures Prods. (which produces "Caroline"), where he developed talk, reality and game formats.

Other hires include writer Cathy Ladman, segment producers Christian McLaughlin and Christine Schomer, music producer Meredith Cohen and human-interest producer Jason Gabel.
