Indican upbeat on 'Down'

Voss-helmed pic tells tale of rock band the Paper Dolls

NEW YORK -- Indican Pictures has picked up domestic rights to "Down & Out With the Dolls" following its screening at Outfest.

The deal was for low-six figures. Pic, directed by Kurt Voss, is slated for a theatrical release at the end of the year.

Story centers on the rise and fall of all-girl rock band the Paper Dolls.

Produced by Matt, Peter and Stephen Hill along with Brett Hardy, "Down and Out" stars Zoe Poledouris, Kinnie Starr, Coyote Shivers and Lemmy Kilmister. Whyte House Prods., subdivision of Australia's Globe, helped finance the pic.

Voss, repped by UTA, co-helmed "Sugar Town" with Allison Anders.
