Bandeirantes inks deal for CNN news

Pact includes 'Larry King Live'

RIO DE JANEIRO -- Bandeirantes has inked a five-year deal with Turner Broadcasting System Latin America to use CNN-branded news programming on its four open and pay TV networks.

The deal includes news from CNN Intl., CNN en Espanol and CNN Newsource Latin America, plus talker "Larry King Live."

Bandeirantes owns fourth-ranked broadcaster TV Bandeirantes, which has licensed CNN material for 10 years. The accord has been renewed and now extends the group's feevees BandSports and BandNews and its UHF channel Canal 21.

Bandeirantes CEO Joao Carlos Saad publicly criticized Turner last year for refusing to sell programming to the newly launched all-news BandNews. Saad accused Turner of favoring its competitor Globo News, the all-news feevee of Organizacoes Globo.

CNN supplies programming to 92 broadcasters and channels in Latin America.
