Holland's HMG hires new chief buyer

De Lille replaces Oversier

AMSTERDAM -- After 20 years in the film distribution biz, industry veteran and RCV Entertainment EVP Dirk de Lille, will move over to the small screen to become manager of foreign acquisitions for Holland Media Group (HMG).

De Lille, who has been at RCV for the last three-and-a-half years, will replace chief buyer Kees Oversier who is ankling the three-channel network Sept. 1 after a ten-year stint. De Lille will join HMG Oct. 1.

He told Daily Variety: "I've been 20 years on the film distribution side, so the change to pure acquisition will be nice." The side benefit, he quipped, "is that I won't have to fight exhibitors anymore."

But De Lille will have a fight on his hands. With nine ad-funded channels in Holland, six of them with commercial briefs, competition couldn't be more cutthroat. His main competitor, Bart Soepnel, chief buyer for SBS Broadcasting, has struck a series of hefty deals for SBS's Dutch operations at HMG's expense.

Prior to joining RCV, De Lille was MD of Warner Bros. Holland for three years, and PolyGram Film Distribution Holland. President Jan Kouwenhoven and exec VP Joke Wartenbergh will absorb De Lille's duties at RCV.
