Amiel 'Seconds' away for Par-Neufeld redo
Thriller expected to start shooting early next year

A remake of John Frankenheimer's 1966 film starring Rock Hudson, "Seconds" is a psychological thriller that unveils the consequences for a man who trades his life for a new identity and gets more than he bargained for.
Neufeld will produce, with Peter Douglas and Robert Rehme serving as exec producers on the pic. At Mace Neufeld Prods., pic is being overseen by head of development Kel Symons.
Though no start date has been confirmed, pic is expected to start shooting early next year.
Film has had a series of writers, starting with Rick Jaffe and Amanda Silver and including Roger Avary. Most recent draft was penned by John Brancato and Michael Ferris.
At one time, "U-571" helmer Jonathan Mostow was eyeing pic but subsequently disengaged from the project.
"The Core," starring Hilary Swank and Aaron Eckhart, will be released Nov. 1 Stateside. Eckhart plays a scientist who discovers a problem with Earth's core that will destroy the atmosphere and make the planet uninhabitable. Swank plays an astronaut chosen to make the trip to inner space.
Amiel, repped by ICM, has helmed pics including "Entrapment," "Copycat" and "Sommersby."
