Stone warms to 'Cold'

Thesp also has two more projects planned after thriller

Sharon Stone is in negotiations to play the female lead opposite Dennis Quaid in the Walt Disney Co.'s upcoming feature "Cold Creek Manor" for helmer Mike Figgis.

Pic marks the first major studio movie for Stone since 1998's "Sphere" for director Barry Levinson and Warner Bros. She did the indie "Beautiful Joe" in 2000.

"Manor," penned by Richard Jefferies based on an original pitch scribe sold to Mouse House last year, is a contemporary thriller about a city family that moves to the country, only to find the dream turn into a nightmare when the previous owner returns from prison to demand his house back. Stone would play Quaid's wife.

Disney senior VP of production Jason Reed and VP Brigham Taylor are overseeing pic.

Actress, repped by UTA, will start work on "Manor" in early August and also is readying two other projects.

Stone is negotiating to join Rupert Everett in "A Different Loyalty" for Samaha Prods. after "Manor" and then "Liar's Club" for producers Jean Francois Fonlupt and Frank Konigsberg.

Actress, whose received an Oscar nom for her performance in Martin Scorsese's "Casino" and a Golden Globe nom for "The Muse," pulled out of a deal to star in the sequel to "Basic Instinct" last year after the troubled project went through several directors and actors to star opposite Stone.

She recently appeared in Rosanna Arquette's docu "Searching for Debra Winger," which unspooled at Cannes this year where she was a member of the competition jury.
