Court TV has signed cable veteran Ellen Cooper as its head PR woman, with the title senior VP of corporate communications.

Cooper is most noted in the industry for having helped to put News Corp.'s FX Network on the map back in 1994, starting as a consultant and then taking on the job of VP of communications for both FX and sister network Fox Movie Channel from 1994 to 1999.

After FX Networks, Cooper spent a year as VP of communications for Stream Search multimedia Internet search engine. Most recently, she was a partner in Cooper/Tataro Communications, providing PR for such clients as Fox Sports.com and the Tennis Channel.

Cooper, based in New York, will report to Art Bell, executive VP of programming and marketing for Court TV.

Cooper in effect succeeds Betsy Vorce, who decided to leave as executive VP of communications for Court TV earlier this year and agreed to stay on until the network hired her replacement.
