ABC Family sends Nash on 'Life' hunt
Skein scans for America's funniest to star in sitcom
Series is the basic cable network's second new program order under recently installed prexy Angela Shapiro. It follows the pickup earlier this month of reality miniseries "The Last Resort" for an August debut (Daily Variety, June 5). Additional programming decisions are likely in the coming weeks, while the network --now part of the Mouse House -- rebrands itself.
Bruce Nash and Jonathan Prince created "Sitcom." Nash is exec producing.
A nationwide search for America's funniest family will be featured in the series, which culminates in the preem of a scripted sitcom pilot starring the family.
Meanwhile at ABC Family, the weekend portion of the network's kids block will expand from two hours to five hours on both Saturdays and Sundays starting July 6. Two hours of kids programming will continue to air every weekday.
As of July 6, kids block lineup throughout the week will incorporate such series as the latest incarnation of "Power Rangers," anime adventure series "Beyblade" and three different animated versions of "Spider-Man."
