More will officially join the agency Monday as senior vice president and head of television talent, replacing vet John Kimble, who ankled WMA last month.
It's a major career shift for More, who has spent more than a decade as a manager-producer, having helped found management firm More-Medavoy in 1989, which then merged to form TEG in 1999. Move also comes a month after TEG partner Brian Medavoy left to join Immortal Entertainment.
"Erwin is among the most highly regarded talent representatives in the industry and we are thrilled he has chosen to make his home at William Morris," said WMA exec VP/worldwide head of television Sam Haskell. "I believe this is going to be so good for our culture and such a wonderful addition to the leadership I have in place."
With the agency business in transition, Haskell said he was looking for a talent head with broad-based experience.
"It's all part and parcel to being as well-prepared for what we need to do to change with the times as we can," he said. "His wealth of experience will help in every area."
More's roster at TEG included R.J. Cutler, Bill Bellamy, Jonathan Silverman, Jenna Elfman, Brian Benben, Melissa Gilbert, Daniel Stern and Mariska Hargitay. Some of those thesps are already repped by WMA; there was no word on which others would follow More as he moves over.
While at TEG, More also won an Emmy for serving as an exec producer on Cutler's Fox/PBS docudrama "American High." Other producing credits include "Dharma & Greg."
"The hardest thing about this is leaving behind people at a company that I built," More said. "Sometimes opportunities present themselves, and life offers you changes that stir up energy and excitement. For me, it's that time. … After spending time with Sam and (WMA topper) Jim (Wiatt), I felt like this was something really exciting."
With More's job switch, on the heels of Medavoy's departure, questions remain regarding the future of TEG. Insiders, however, point out that TEG still boasts a strong roster of talent, including Sean Penn, Reese Witherspoon, Julianne Moore and Kiefer Sutherland.
"This is a fabulous opportunity for Erwin," said TEG partner Suzan Bymel. "(Partners) Evelyn (O'Neill), Brian (Gersh) and I, along with the entire staff of TEG, look forward to working with him in his new capacity."
