Concrete, based in Philadelphia but with an office in Los Angeles, is focusing on producing branded entertainment, commercials and films. First pic, "Cherish," is skedded to bow June 7 in select locations. Fine Line Features is distribbing in the U.S., while StudioCanal is handling foreign territories.
Boortz greenlit the project when he was overseeing 3 Ring Circus Films and serves as one of the exec producers on the pic, which stars Robin Tunney.
The co-founder and prexy of 3 Ring Circus, Boortz created 3 Ring Circus Films in 1997 and produced not only "Cherish" but also "One," "Dream With the Fishes" and "Tear It Down."
Concrete Pictures also offers branding, design and promotion services to television networks and other entertainment clients through Denver-based Archipelago. In one of its most recent deals, the company created the identity package for Discovery Networks' newly relaunched Science Channel.
Based in Los Angeles, veep of creative and strategic development Drew Fleming oversees development of Concrete's feature film properties and branded entertainment and identifies opportunities for content that supports and enhances the promotion of corporate and consumer brands.
Producer and screenwriter Miles Dinsmoor, a longtime collaborator with Boortz at 3 Ring Circus, heads up the Philadelphia office.
