Warner tunes up Frank

Vet upped to new post of music prexy

Doug Frank has been promoted to the new post of president of music operations at Warner Bros. Pictures, responsible for administrative, production and day-to-day ops of Warner Bros. Pictures Music as well as strategic design, development and deployment of the studio's music-related initiatives. Gary LeMel, Warners' prexy of worldwide music, will continue to be responsible for the division's overall creative direction.

"Doug has played a crucial role in our extraordinarily successful film music operation over the years," said Alan Horn, Warners prez and chief operating officer. "He has excellent relationships with musicians, composers and filmmakers, is expert in every facet of soundtrack production and fully understands the artistic process."

Frank has been with Warners more than 15 years, most recently as exec VP, music. He worked on such soundtracks as "The Bodyguard," the "Batman" films, the "Lethal Weapon" pics and the platinum soundtracks "New Jack City" and "Pure Country."

Previously, he headed Warner Bros. Television's music department and helped shape the musical tone of WBTV series such as "Murphy Brown" and "China Beach." He also has worked with WB Animation and served as a music consultant to the WB Television Network.

Also a songwriter, Frank has had his songs recorded by such artists as Dionne Warwick and Placido Domingo. He's also worked as a studio musician, composed scores for TV series and co-wrote the Broadway musical "Marilyn: An American Fable."
